The Google-owned video-sharing platform, YouTube is reportedly testing an online game offering. It will give users the ability to play games via the YouTube website on a desktop or the YouTube app. Right now, the platform is letting a selected number of users play online YouTube games as part of this new experiment. The games will be present in a new “Playables” section on YouTube’s home feed. Moreover, it will be accessible on both desktop and mobile versions.
YouTube is stepping into the realm of gaming, but it’s not an ambitious project looking to bring major titles or cloud gaming. Instead, we will soon be getting a suite of mini-games on the YouTube homepage for some chill time pass.
Google is not new to the game streaming experience, particularly as it had the Stadia before, but like Icarus from Greek mythology, it was able to fly high and not able to sustain its track. Now, YouTube is beta testing its take on offering mini-games on its platform, with users who are fed up with watching videos now able to try out different games under Playables.
