Tencent and Logitech G have announced a partnership that will see the two companies collaborate on a new handheld console that will be somewhat similar to the Steam Deck but designed to host multiple cloud gaming services. Both companies are currently working with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now teams for the upcoming project.
“Logitech G’s leadership in PC and console gaming gear make them an ideal partner to help us realize the vision of bringing a better gaming experience to gamers around the globe,” Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab's general manager Daniel Wu said. “Today marks the start of a new opportunity for our companies to further push the frontiers of gaming devices.”
Together, Tencent and Logitech G hope to create a handheld console to "deliver on the exciting promise of gaming from the cloud." By leaning on Logitech G's experience in building PC and console gaming equipment, the two companies' partnership aims to utilize the power of cloud gaming's install-less technology to put AAA games in the hands of players, no matter the service they choose to use.
“As one of the leading global platforms for game development, publishing, and operations, Tencent Games has been at the forefront of innovation and it’s why we partnered with them,” Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G said. “As someone that grew up playing video games, the idea of being able to stream and play AAA games almost anywhere is super exciting, and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”
