To launch the project, Niti Aayog and Amazon Web Services Private Limited (AISPL), which resells and markets AWS Cloud services in India, signed an intent statement (SoI).
According to R Ramanan, project director of the Atal Innovation Mission, the partnership with AWS will provide the country's talented youth with digital and web-based resources that can enhance their creative and innovative capabilities, allowing them to develop exponentially in its innovation and entrepreneurship network.
The education and resources will provide a solid base in cloud computing for students at Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across India. At the same time, AWS EdStart funding for startups will accelerate productization and future commercialization, according to Ramanan.
AWS will teach students at over 7,000 ATLs in India the basics of cloud computing, such as cloud storage, virtual compute power, web hosting, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and virtual reality (VR).
According to a report commissioned by AWS, Rahul Sharma, President, Public Sector - AISPL, AWS India and South Asia, India will need nine times as many digital skilled workers by 2025.
"AWS is dedicated to closing the digital skills gap in cloud computing and inspiring entrepreneurs to develop creative cloud-based products and services."
"We are committed to assisting consumers in delivering transformational change and experiential learning on a broad scale. It is an honor to work with the Atal Innovation Mission to encourage ideation, curiosity, and innovation among India's students and youth, "Sharma said.
